Until now, I don't understand why PS doesn't invite you to be ship developer...

still miss LoA, extremely good designs and still no use.
Kenny has a different taste for ship designs than i do, but i think the model is still very good.

Thx for the compliments I guess.

Thing is, I treat these models as contributions and fan art. I do these things for fun on my own time and pace, and without any pressure, adherence or commitment to any timeline. Plus it's good practice too.

I'm not expecting anything. So let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Anyway, tell me what you like or dislike abt it. I'll be doing more cruisers and dessies. There're enough dreads out there as it is.

I don't like the double-line white windows along the ship. They should be grey, single line and sole window.
The horn at left and right side reminds me of Krill horn. I think UGTO inclines semicircle.
How about adding shape on upper and below, instead of focusing on side?

Ah ok. You don't like double deck windows.
I used the standard UGTO window textures. ICC windows don't work too well with the ship.

The horns... ah, you mean the chines. Yeah.... They were meant to look like LERX'es on high performance aircraft (eg SR-71) but extruded. Purely cosmetic of course... space has no need for aerodynamics.

I'll see what I can come with on the next cruiser or dessie design.

This may sound silly, but the first day I entered DarkSpace I explored the game and looked at the various ships found. I finally started out as UGTO because I liked their ship's appearance the most. Kenny, your designs are just as pleasing to the eye and encompass the spirit of UGTO ship design. Keep it up.

UGTO Ballista Missile Cruiser

This is the first time I'm designing a specific vessel type.

Named after the ancient siege weapon, the Ballista (a bigass crossbow). I've kept most of the Seraph cruiser's (below) configuration, making this a sort of variant of the Seraph class hull.

The cruiser has 2 humps on the back, representing the missile storage and launcher/silos. If you look carefully at the humps, you'll see numerous silo doors.

The engines have also been redesigned. They're now canted outwards and slightly downwards at an angle to retain the fast looking wedge appearance that I liked about the Seraph. The wings are smaller but are integrated well into the hull's profile (at least, I hope )

Let me know what you think.

i love everything on that above model except the horns lol
could you take out the horns and kinda thicken where the "head" of the ship meets with the body?

That's a lot of engine exhaust ports.

Well the little ones are the fake ports.

Sort of like the faux exhuast tips on those wannabe ricer "Type-R" family sedans.

Hmm.. ok. Horns again.

LOL. Let me see what I can do about that chine. Maybe connect it to the forward hull.

Keep the comments coming.

UGTO Rapier Destroyer

With design elements from both the dread and cruisers below, this is a destroyer class hull. Designation: Rapier

on the rapier, all the engine pods/hangars that come out from the back are way too tall, i suggest making the ship look a little more streamlined from the front
