Bombing a depot planet doesn't really accomplish much unless you blow up the depots themselves or kill the population. They need 0 tech, 5 power, and 1 worker to run, hell I've destroyed or disabled every power generator on depot planets before and most of them were still operational, unless you have multiple people bombing then really the best you can hope for is making it revolt.

This can actually be a really handy tactic if your opponent faction isn't paying attention. And sometimes it can turn out way too well.

You just have to know what you're doing and how to do it well. Something I'd rather my enemies not know.

I wonder if UGTO still remembers when I used nothing but a bomber frigate and a transport to totally turn Agrysia to dust before capturing it, it getting captured back and halfway built before it revolted.

Good times and good tactics.

the problem with "gentleman agreements", specifically in DS, is that there aren't but about 5 people left that fit that description, and I'm betting they seldom log in anymore. I applaude your attempt, agree depots are too one-sided (actually a major reason I have quit), but I know that with THIS community...well, I should just stop there.

I, from the SA, shall subscribe to The Gentlemens Agreement.

To facilitate this, I shall, from this point on, be in either a nest or a supply ship depending on how many Kluth ships of the line are in play.

Supply Ship: 2 repair bays
Nest: 3 repair bays

on another note, a depot planet was built doday by ugto that had ~10 depots and defense and dictor. The build was not op. It repaired fast, but not fast enuff to outdo damage from a fleet. I rather like the build, and will probably be converting all our depots in sag to this.

Made for some fun combat. Good job UGTO

questions on that build.

what was;

tec-
pop-
food-

so i can acuratly replicate it. (was pretty ragged when we finaly got our hands on it)

of course as a luth i agree to limit depots

of course i think depots part of strategie, and easily beaten by tranny razing, or bombing. cause most good depot to have more research for a dictor, and some defense so ai wont cap it.

there arent always players online, a depot is very vulnerable, therefor has its downsides. Just most players play "within the box" i must agree.

there are more options then firepower to beat a depot

Its a bit difficult to take that build as a template as it was an arid (Arcona) and depots usually are barrens, but a population/food of about 60 or more and a minimum of 80 tech for the dictor and any def bases.

It all depends on were the planet is situated and how many def bases you want on it. I would build more def bases if only they were more usefull.

Planetary depots will now repair all ships within range, and have a 1-per-panet limit.

UGTO your days as #1 are numbered.

1-per-panet?

Is this for real, or a joke on all the anti-depot ppl here?

1 per "panet" is pretty harsh. Let's see how this goes down.
If all of this is true, then I foresee supp plat spam now.
