I think personally this might be one of the higher issues with the current patch.

ECM is too powerful, ships can dance beside your hull and be untargetable.
ECCM is only for scouts and Frigates. The detection ranges need to be increased, and ECCM needs to beat ECM when there's one more ECM gadget.

It's fine if the Frig or Scout can maintain it's ECM shroud at range, but being cloaked at less then 30gu is silly.

I'm all for variety and stealth combat, but at the moment all I can see this devolving into is everyone going about everywhere stealthed, with no one being able to target anyone else.



It's not ECM that's the problem, it's visual detection. ECM can easily be countered with ECCM from a Scout or Frigate or if you can target then with capital ECCM, something that's nigh impossible currently when visual detection for Scouts is around 20 GU and Frigates, while I'm not sure on the exact number, is definitely less than 100 GU. Wait for the visual detection issues to be sorted out and see what it looks like then.

ECCM should not be stronger than ECM, let's not go too far in the other direction like happened with the ECM nerf in the 1.6 era after people whined about the Border Cruiser. We already had no falloff over distance added to 1.7 so just getting 1 GU in range will blast someone with 100% signal strength, and ECM is already at a disadvantage because it has to cover a ship's own signature before it's effective.

I spent more time looking for people then I did playing. I don't see why the MV map on the website can't just be a screenshot of what you see in f2 zoomed out, with blockaded planets etc showing up as a red ring around each system where there's conflict. It wouldn't have to be in realtime or anything close, maybe an update once a minute so people wanting to log in can hop on the website, have a quick look at where the action is and decide to join accordingly.

also, is it possible to get a refresh button for the lobby? I can sit there for 5 minutes and see no chat whatsoever and then all of a sudden I get half a page of chat, then nothing, then repeat etc..

good job on the update by the way, I've played more in the past few days then I have in years!

Not sure what issue you're referring to with the GCQL chat update thing. I think that may be an issue on your machine...

You can see other people in other servers if you select them and wait a few seconds for the data to be retreived. Any allied ships, planets, etc, will show up.

Scanner is more balanced than you think.
I've noticed the scanner picks up buildings at around 750 gu from the planet - which is exactly when your bombs come into range.


About ship detection - I agree it is a bit wonky atm. Maybe the numbers could use some adjustment.
But all this ECM cloaking is still easily countered by jumping in with an ECCM frigate, because:
1.they are loaded with ECCM
2.a frigates ship detection is pretty good anyway, and
3.a scanner doubles that detection radius.

So you will likely detect them even If you don't break their sig into the positive, and this is especially true the bigger the hidden ship is.

As far as dealing with multiple maulers... Well.... just get out of your dread, it is going to die soon anyway. LOL

Tzar and I just resupplied sheng from 30% hull to full. Neither of us got any prestige for it. Hes in the Courier, I'm in the fleet.

Nothing was changed regarding prestige rewarding except from the subscriber bonus. I've just tried repairing someone in-game, and it works fine...

This has been there for ages, but it's driving me nuts:

When you're replacing regular bombs with PSM's, mousing over the PSM replacement icon will say "Replace with Proton Siege Missile". Not a big deal, but....

I either am having another desync type issue or when I undock ships for the first time this version I take a prestige loss for roughly what the ships worth.
