Okay, I seriously think Draff should be recruited into the Dev team to make new musics for this game

Maybe some faction-themed tracks of some sort?

Just posted another track. Silent Storm.mp3. I hope you all enjoy it, although I don't think it is quite as good as the previous one.

sorry for the uber bump but...

Silent Storm uterly rocks. That NEEDS to go in game, so much so that I just added it. Maybe when you initialize on building a planet, different music could start. This is perfect for when your cruising with no one to fight, or just building a planet.

5/5 Draf

As the unoffical offical rater of space music...here are my opinions

Silent Storm-

4/5
Reminds me of underwater, which is pretty nice. However, it does repeat a bit much, and the Bass drum is a bit loud for it to be 100% soothing. It's relaxing, I'll give it that. A bit too techno-ish. Some people might not like that. It would, however, make a good UGTO calm theme, as it's reminding me of...well...UGTO...somehow. Probably the bass drum. Most of it's the same, and 4.05mb is pretty big for 56k (thats like 15-30minutes). If you could make it shorter without making it more repititous, then I would definitly start a petition to add this in.

AfterLife
3/5
The bass drum! Perfect volume level, and just enough of it. Techno, again, but it works better here. And I can see why it's called AfterLife, it's very reminding me of that.I was going to call it relaxing, but the upbeat part could be used anywhere. if you could, per say, isloate it and shove it into its own file, it's make a good ICC or K'luth combat music. It sounds very high tech, rebellous. Leaning more towards K'luth. Once again, File Size is big. VERY big. If you cut out the upbeat, as mentioned, and left the low silent part, it'd make a somewhat decent ICC or K'luth quiet theme. Didn't listen to all of it, a bit long, but very nice parts

AnotherLife
4.5/5
ooooyeah. This is Awesome. very nice. I love the intro. I could see people jumping into the middle of the battle with this playing. What would be cool is that if could be coded so the begining upbeat parts plays on loop until the enemy is away and it switched to the middle low part. Also, the transition form the middle to end is nice. Very low key, and sneaking. Would be good music for K'luth in cloaked mode...as more instruments come in, and the musics gets more suspensful and more instruments come in. Very nice battle music in the begging for ICC, middle could be used for gags of stuff, end suggsetion if for cloaked K'luth

OVerall, I must say these r0xx0red my s0xx0rz. very nicely done. If you could get the file size down, I'm dead sure the admin/dev would add these in.

Can't wait for more!

I'll have to agree with you, Drafell... Silent Storm doesn't have the same kick. I only listened to it once this time around, too.

---EDIT: Question, Draf. What do you use to make these?

no one cares about this bump BS, cause i was going to do it if u didnt.

ok heres what i think of the songs...

Another Life

  • the drums need to be changed
  • maybe a base version of the melody should be added?

AfterLife

  • the 80s synth snare anoys me. haha
  • add somemore atmospheric sounds

Silent Storm

  • the base drum needs a little less volume and more base
  • the second melody needs to be added sooner
  • an atmospheric melody would add to the depth of the music

These are just crits. your music is good in my opinion =) i would post the goods to your songs but i dont want a demorian length post.

UGTO Specific

  • When i think of a UGTO Theme, i think "Main Battle Theme: Starship troopers"
  • Broad, Classical, Powerfull, Arrogant: all the nessisary elements of a UGTO Theme

ICC Specific

  • When I Say What kind of music would be good for an ICC theme, i think
      [
    • hard
    • fast
    • vengfull
    • loud

  • what kind of music is like this? Your tel me. the closest thing ive heard to somethign like this would be the beginning of "Wth You" by linkin park from the re-animation cd

K'Luth Specific

  • When im a cloaked luth waiting to pounce, id like to listen to some quite transeish techno.... but i keep thinking that some african tribal drum style beats would make just as much sense.
  • that leads me to think A:Im crazy, and B: why not try it?
  • if anyone knows anymusic that is low volume techno... atmospheric kinda stuff with maybe some nice drums in it post a name here.

Now why do i say all this? Maybe to give some ideas to a certain Someone, or maybe just to post my thoughts on it.

either way, thats what i think when i think of music taylored to the factions

freakin laptop had a volume scroller BESIDE the speaker input hole... if u dunno what im talkign about dont worry

Just thought I would mention a couple things here.

Put custom music files in your Program Files/PaleStar/DarkSpace/Music folder.

In there is a file, named config.ini.

You can edit this file (it's pretty self explanitory), in order to set up what music files are played for each tasks.

I guess F plans to add more categories to the file.
