I found the setup of the brood rather surprising, seeing as even at first glance it renders the other luth dreads quite obsolete. Most markedly it nulls the ganglia, with more weapons, more bombs, more special slots, a reload and equal fighters.

The four assault ruptors are all fore/left/right, with the torps, armour, and ruptor arcs making it nastier than the siphon and at least equal to the mandy, with the added bonus of more specials (reactor) and a reload. Already it is quickly becoming the luth combat ship of choice.

I don't know if there are already other plans in place for the brood - or especially - the ganglia. Otherwise, how about taking off the bios, stripping two assaults and making the other two fore. That way it won't replace the gang or mandy/siphon.

Take note that the Brood has very little in temrs of rear firepower. You get behind it and it cannot shoot back.

the mandy is more powerful... the flag ships all suck atm... icc ships got the short end of the stick... the only reson for it to be the ship of choice is the fact that it is the only good bomber we have...

mandy = 15 rupters 6 A-rupters 7 torps... ALL can fire on target

Brood = 13 rupters 4 A-rupter 5 torps... 11 rupter 4 A-rupters 4 torps can fire on target...

the gang just sucks... 3 bombs, rupters on odd arcs... id never want to fly it...

siphon = uber assult dread (not realy) 11 rupters 7 torps 6 A-rupters... need to take the uber super gun out of the equation as its only use atm is as a siege wepon... to use it in a dog fight is not a good idea... the power drain and FF damage are not worth the damage done to the ship your attacking... note that a BD can kill every one of thouse ships with ease save the mandy...

if any thing i would stop worrying about Luth/Ughto ships (save the flag ships) and fix ICC... come on now... i can make a ICC station run all by my self (and i dont mean the supply station)... they dont have even one ship that can stand up to a BD

edit... got some numbers wrong... mandy/siphon had 2 more A-rupter slts than i stated... fixed now...

The reason why ICC got the short end of the stick was simple, the Devs had made the ICC highly dependant on missiles on their stock designs, yet, its fairly agreed upon even with all the adjustments that Missiles still plainly suck. That and the arcs for ICC ships suck. None of our Dreadnought ships have any significant firepower on our rear arcs.

The Command Carrier is just a plain -WTF- design, the 6 Fighters are okay, but, the Bombs make no sense (Bomber Dread is worlds better), and the PCMs/Torpedoes are practically useless unless you get the rare chance to be able to turn around to fire a shot. Since a lot of ships can tear apart a Command Carrier if they get close, especially Kluth ships.

with the PD fixed there is no way missiles can be effective... think it was better haveing only 2 beams working with the PD... at least then the planets could hurt the bombers makeing runs... and it makes pulse beams that much more desirable... though that throws the new escort destroyers out the window...

could make the mid range missiles fire 2 for every slot like the PSI missiles... that may help... but a rethink on icc ships needs to be done imo... ya sure they are the deffenceve facton... well give them the shielding they deserve... the = to standard armor (at lest)... and lower the power cost a bit... they have less reactor slots on avage than the other factions and yet they have to mount more generators just to fight... the only thing on ICC that realy benifits from the aux shield is the station... all the other factons can make much better use of them do to their lower power needs... the only thing going for ICC atm is a uber bomber...

Personally I think what makes the ICC so pathetic is the fact they limited the Aux generators, and sheilds to lvl 2 for dreads, if I remember correctly tael told me that a lvl 0 generator is basically like a Fusion 500 in release and lvl 8 is like the 1500 now your telling me a dread cant equip a 1500, and is limited to basically a 750 which really limits the ICC since they rely totally on the power generation to keep their shield go without it they might as well be target practice... That and the missles too...

But I really think that they probably should spend some more time on the special slots are the things limited and make it where just the sensor equipment is limited and make it where the aux gens and aux shields arent limited anymore. I mean the ICC had tough times keeping their shields going with 3 lvl 8 aux gens and now what are they suppossed to do with 5 lvl 2 aux generators and they cant even use the aux shields if they wanna keep the power going on dreads in combat situations, or while theyre moving, you cant expect a dread to just sit still during combat.

Also for the brood I think its an awesome jack of all trades ship that Im happy you only get at FA. But personally I think the Siphon needs another pair of assault ruptors, and maybe a few more standard weapon slots, and maybe one more fore armor and the ship could be perfect. The Ganglia is a good ship but I personally think it should be bumped down to VA and given a few more standard weapons slots or more missles I mean it is the only ship with shock missles give it some more.

First off, I agree that the brood is overpowered...I rarely see mandi's/gangs/siphons at all anymore...last time I was on requests for combat support were answered with broods...as for the ICC however, the missile dreadnaught is quite powerful and one of the most moddable ships I've seen...20 ar missiles (lvl 8 of course) will make your opponent re think his close jump just as well as 20 torps or sabots...last time I checked CD was still worthless (and had gotten more worthless, but that was a long time ago when vice admirals (you know, the guys who order other's around) could fly ships larger than cruisers...). ICC ships have gotten much better overall, scouts are SOO much better, cruisers are nice and the missile dread is a great ship...

of corse they responded with the new ship... it is new therefore people want to see how well it stands up... we know the mandy is good and the siphon sucks... the gang is nolonger a combat ship (not that it ever was much of one to begin with)

personly the brood is an inspiered ship imo... very well rounded, as a command ship should be with out surpassing the main stay dread in the fleet (mandy)...

@ Drafell, that's EXACTLY the same as with the other dreads.

Also, the Brood is the best arc'd luth ship. This is only because it has 4 left/right available assaults, which is more than any other luth dread.

Also, it has a reload.

Seriously, what speaks more than anything else, is that people just stop flying mandy/siphon/gang after the brood, and use it for everything. What you're failing to take into account is that with reload, 2 extra fighters and 4 side assaults, also extra arour, brood can stay a hellava lot longer uncloaked than the siphon and end up doing a lot more damage. Plus the mandy doesn't have it's assaults mostly available left/right, which do most of the damage.w

Why the hell have a siphon or mandy, when I can fly a ship that at least matches the other dreads in combat, but can also bomb/sup/build AND will be getting a command interface.

I was in a stock brood and - easily - took out an EAD, with a BC and gunboat on my tail. And I've seen a lot of broods beating up bd's, ead's, ad's even in the short time it's been in.

If you think the Brood is uber, just wait til one ship gets on your butt and kills you. Then you think twice about, "Sweet, lemme pull this ship out and kill all because it has the most weapons". Strategy and good piloting is what gets you the kill not flat out alpha attacks. (with the exception of the tiny ships of course and idiots who just sit there)
