On another note Goth, you should realize that if DS is the only place on the internet you connect to that doesn't by any means make you safe from virii that scan whole subnets looking for exploitable machines. When you are connected to the internet then you are vulnerable to attack by people and their automated software.

I helped fix a laptop once that have over 3000 virii/trojans/etc.

There are many things you can do to make you safer while online.

i have the standard zonealarm, i do however need zonealarm pro and cant afford the $30 it takes to buy it...and by the way i am not hinting towards illegal means to get me a *cough* Crack for it

and these were dormant Trojans, Keyloggers and Virus's that were yes in the Copy of Star Trek Bridge Commander i obtained from Download.com and the mods from Fileplanet -.- it seems the person responsible for those mods was thrown in the slammer for this...i contacted one of the admins on Fileplanet that was hosting the full/demo games on that site and wouldnt you know it......50% of those games are in fact Houses for Virus Programs -.- so i'd steer clear of that site ugh

Fileplanet? Virus's?

< - Has downloaded 50+ demos from FP without a single virus.

Heck, I dl'd a Bridge Commander demo back when it was new without problems...I've always considered FP a pretty safe haven from virus's...and kenetiks 3000? 3000!? You just had to top me didn't you . My goodness, what did you do to fix it?

Second, Zone Alarm Pro works pretty well and is pretty straight foward. That coupled with AVG should get you fairly protected.

Okay. Yes. Zone Alarm does work well. If it is configured properly and the user RTFM. 99% of users do not RTFM. They call me complaining that they can not do anything on the internet. We make them uninstall Zone Alarm. Everything works again. If they say they don't want to use the internet without a firewall, we tell them to consut a computer technician. In other words, don't expect your ISP to support your 3rd party software for you.

Avast is bad! It's a virus! I mean, it says avast, so it must be linked to piratey types...right? (If anyone takes this seriously, do yourself a favour, and hit yourself...with a sarcasm/humour detecter.)

Um well, despite major attempts too get darkspace working again um, My computer crashed and i had too Reinstall everything, i had to reformate my hard drive, and i had to scan for viruses before i did this and this is what i found

1. 64 Trojans

2. 56 Keyloggers

3. 17,000 Intruder attempts

i dont know what disappoints me more, that i had to run away from yahoo Hacker Predators or that i ran into a new breed in darkspace -.- either way, 3 people in darkspace have threatened to freaking hack me and i dont like it!

i want whoever is good at computers to stay away from me....i dont like the idea of a hacker being in DS -.-

Lemme guess. you visit alot of umm "XXX" sites cause thast where 99% of those trojans and keyloggers probably came from, either that or you dl, alot of stuff on P2P. People who hack aren't concerned with keyloggers, and trojans are primaraly used for dos attacks, But if you go on yahoo chat alot I would imagine a person like yourself would attract alot of attackers.
Do you not even have any antivirus software on you comp lol, You know what too goth I bet you thats why you have lag so much, lol. Anyways How do you suppose someone could hack you through DS, get some protection and dont bother us with your inadequacies. Seriously Goth you do nothing but complain, I thought the goth philosophy was not to give a crap about anything. you are now officaly known as........... DramaThug

PS Zone Alarm sucks the big one, It doesnt keep out trojans or keyloggers. At least not very well, and I would think the fact that he has zone alarm and also has all that crap on his machine would be proof enough, My advice read a book.

No, it's not. I work in computers thanks, and I've been using Windows Firewall ALONE for the past year, and I've had not one trojan, netBIOS, or virus attack come through it. It does the job FINE as long as you know what you're doing.

I'd think twice before doubting someone who works in the industry.

Goth, re-add me to MSN, and I'll give you a few links and even walk you through everything you need to know.
