Now that depo's repair everything in an area why not make reload drones the same.
Their would have to be a limit on em too, say 3 per ship so we dont end up with fleets of support stations or everyone towing supply platforms.

Short:
we are looking in to the possibilities.

Long:
This will be discussed and maybe worked on in the near future.
We are giving planetary Depo's using a AOE field first, because they really need it.

The drawback of supply ships using a AOE field, is that you no longer can concentrate all your repair/reload on a single target. So we may look at other combinations. For example we might equip the support station with a repair AOE and a reload drone.

I don't think drones need it. The problem was depot spamming.

Area Of Effect

AoE rep drones repair every ship in a certain radius

I think it works better to make all reloads based around AoE. Sure as hell makes it easier to resupply fleets.

Making it difficult to repair a ship should be a good thing. It makes hull damage something thats much more a concern than shield or armor. It makes it count a hell of alot more.

So yeah, if your ship dies it really freaking hurts. It means that if you damage an enemy ship you're actually, seriously, causing a problem. That ship just can't come straight back and fight. Especially the bigger it is.

Make all reloads AoE based, keep the range, make sure it can't stack too much (I think more than three on any given target is fair).

Focused repair is nice, but I've seen all too clearly its abuse, and the amount of problems it creates. At this point, I seriously think that making reloads AoE universally is a good thing.

I don't think targeted reload drones can be abused in the new version. Damage is higher across the board.

Let's wait and see how things work out, but I'm predicting that the depot fix and reliance on supply plats will be enough.

I am in Favor also of a AoE effect of repair devices but if you guys slow the action down too much you risk losing alot of action oriented players who like the fast repair to get back into action. also with the slower repair people are just gonna start complaining about the K'luth again cause they get bonus to hull repair Plus AoE repairing plus cloak they can fight get damaged cloak and repair their entire force faster than the Visible factions.

my suggestion is allow a max of 3 AoE repair structures on a planet and the non cloaking faction get a new AoE repair plat that acts like build drone enhancements for engineering ships they don't actually repair they could increase AoE range and boost repair rates.

also with this new system i suggest a 10-15% reduction in large ship jump recharge, or if a ship defenses are down they maybe get a boost to their jump drive recharge or make enhancements that can quick charge a jump drive. they have to have cost v usefulness balanced so they are not abused.

We are currently planning to use AoE repair on Depots, some stations and platforms.

Normal supplies will keep the focused targeted repair.

Plats will go AOE too? I'm OK with that. AOE stations sound interesting too (a support station could truly be "support" depending on the AOE radius, which can't be too high or a bunch of them together would be OP).

another thing just came to my head:

do we get an mv-reset when the patch goes live ?
not that we still have planets with multiple pre-patch-build depots

The only thing i am concerned about, will the AoE repair drones on stations fix up the station itself?

if it doest, i think this is a baaaaad idea...

I'm not too keen on Stations having AOE reloads unless they don't stack with other Station reloads, otherwise it'll be worse than it is now.
