http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=21f220eeebc19afd2f1e10015c52261d
heres the components
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=22383532be8c7bcc39d072954af577a5 This serves as a connection between different units and also to dock ships up to dreads, it would also be able to transport ships to the main hanger for repair. << yes i based off of a old ds design
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=47970fe508ee1cbbe13aef0b515a085c This would serve as a command headquarter and also to provide heavy defense for the docks. Only major guns are drawn.
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=64abb175dd414cd559d846117db7506 This serves as a 4 way connector and also to allow stations to dock.
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=4e1543b4b3f098e12db8d21ef085e879 Well what else does a hanger do. I didnt include any thing in the interior.
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=b38d86c74f09ddb788f60c2523b21b0b This is like central command unit. All other units are built around this.
heres the two tiny turrents you see
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=c1110cdb30a32446d2af20f852cf50dd This would be a fighter launching ramp turrent.
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=efb79517203911498272f7d1280c5315 This would be a missle launcher turrent.

VEEERY Basic model for an idea I had for a Command Station. If it ever gets accepted, I (Or the staff) will end up remodeling and working out the kinks in it, as well as actualy texturing it..

Just downloaded SketchUp last night, it's so much fun to use.
A 100% original design
And a gun turret.

so i spent a couple days working on potential dread models and most of them ended up looking really odd. Such a model that would work well in an episode of batmobile lost in space...
But here is one that didnt get me rolling over the floor laughing at such a poorly designed ship.

description/excuse for poor design:
The HT-193 looks very different from any modern ugto counterpart. The HT-193 actually was built as part of a recent program to employ outdated designs and refitting them with recent military advances in hopes of obtaining a fleet with more diverse capabilities.
Rank:
I would say around the requirements for a battle station.
Weapons:
It would be outfitted with mostly forward facting weapons, which would consist of dread like layout(weapon numbers slightly reduced).
Hull/Armour:
It would use a station hull/upgrade path. Similar to a station, each side would have 3 standard armour plates, however the aft would only be armoured with 2 plates
Speed/turning:
Unlike a station, it probably would get around a top speed of 15 gu. Still it would get the manuverability of a station.
Overall Scheme:
This would sort of be like a speedy weak torp cruiser version of a station.

UGTO (Heavy) Transport
I tried adding all sorts of things to the tail to make it look "right", but in the end I just settled with it how it was.

Hmm, must remember to try making a mock-up of my idea in SecondLife. And yes, the bays will likely look somewhat like cheese wedges.

i'd just make a giant cube and call it a station. w/ a few windows and another cube inside it and call that a hanger. =p

Downloaded Googel Sketchup, my kind of model making program.
Anyways, worked for a few days on a model, dreadnought class.
Since whenever I create things I follow no set design, or proceedure it sort of... grew.
Alot.
Anyways, here is an isometric view:
