Nice, you have downloaded and installed Darkspace, and started the game by running this GCQL client. Now this client asks for a log-in...

Register an account and log-in.

Now u are running the great GCQL client! click on the "Launch" tab at the top, and select "Darkspace" from the list, click the new "launch" button that appeared in this "Launch" tab. Dont run "Darkspace (beta)" for now....

After clicking "launch" for the first time, u can select the metaverse server or scenario. Connect to the metaverse. u will probably get some updates, and yes the downloadspeed for this slowly goes down, not up. Usually it takes about 30-45 minutes. After the update, you have entered the server. Click "play" to start playing.

Now u can select your faction. Most people agree there is an build-in difficulty setting:

Easy - UGTO

Normal - K'luth

Hard - ICC

The difficulty is from the number of shipsystems to operate (gotta push a lot of buttons when u play icc). For people that never played this game i can recommend playing UGTO or K'luth the first 2 weeks. U can choose your faction each time you log in so don't worry, choosing faction has no consequenses at all.

After choosing a faction you will enter a screen we call "the hangar". This screen simulates u being in the shipyard of a planet. In this screen you can select a ship to start with, and a planet to spawn at (a planet with a shipyard). Also later u can manage ur cargo and enhancements here as well.
