The wormhole device is a device that you can swap for a Hyper-mass accelerator that allows you to create a wormhole from any location to anywhere other location within the server. The Hyper-mass accelerator is only found on command ships and stations and is the only device interchangable with the Wormhole Device. The Hyper-mass accelerator is basically the jump drive for command ships, you can find more info on the Hyper-mass Accelerator page. The Wormhole device does have pros and cons.

The wormhole device is a device that can be swapped for a Hyper-Mass Accelerator that allows you to create a pair of wormholes within range of the ship. This device can be equipped only on command-class dreadnoughts and stations.

Range:- 200'000 GU (Dreadnought) : 300'000 GU (Station)
Minimum range:- 2'000 GU
Duration:- 60 seconds (Dreadnought) : 120 seconds (Station) Maximum displacement of Destination Wormhole:- 2'000 GU (Dreadnought) : 3'000 GU (Station)

Once created, the wormhole pair act as a pair of jumpgates, allowing for instant travel between the two wormholes. Planetary interdictor fields do not interfere with wormhole travel, whether the wormholes lie inside or across the field. The wormhole created is usable by all ships, making wormhole travel risky for lone ships.

Default key for activating the WHD is [J], same as that for the standard Jump drive on other ships. The target of the WHD must be selected, and be within range, for using the device. When activated, one wormhole is created 50 GU from the ship's hitbox, in the direction the ship is facing. The destination wormhole is created at a random displacement from the target.

Wormhole pairs fail to be created when either wormhole ends up inside a planet or a star's sphere.
