Armor refers to passive defense systems on a ship which protect its hull from Weapons damage. The materials used to make the massive plates of armoring vary in their properties and durability, but all of them follow the principle of directly blocking external fire.

The Standard Armor of all UGTO ships when they leave the yard, it deals evenly with Energy and kinetic weapons. Made of thick layers of solid Ferro-carbon Fiber synthetics and regenerating nanoprobes, it is capable of withstanding physical and chemical damage and self-repair using space debris and star light to function.

Extensive research on solid and semi-liquid carbon compounds led to the development of a material which can reflect powerful energy Beams and waves, greatly reducing the damage taken from Lasers, particle streams and energy guns. However, lack of metallic rigidity results in quick degradation when subjected to projectile impacts, making this armor much less effective against kinetic weapons such as the ICC Railgun.
Another benefit of Reflective Armor is that it has lower mass than the other available armor system, allowing the ship to accelerate and turn more quiclkly, as well as increase Jump Drive efficiency.

Ablative Armor is an aging, but effective defence system, featuring multiple layers of scraps of armor put together, each containing small explosives on the inside. When projectile fire is detected, the explosives on the outer layer detonate in a controlled explosion, instantly colliding the scrap armor with incoming fire to completely neutralize the possibility of kinetic trauma.
However, this system is weak to energy weapons, which can burn through the armor and set off uncontrolled explosions which damage nearby armor scraps. Also, the explosive emplacements required to satisfactorily accelerate the scraps of armor results in a lack of space for regenerative subsystems, so Ablative armor cannot defend against a constant rain of projectiles.
ICC Composite Armor is made of thick layers of ceramic-based materials which combine to create a solid wall between the Hull and enemy aggressers. The lack of research in regenerative armor technology compelled Confederate military to recover and improvise upon self-sustaining UGTO armor technology. Unable to fully utilise the effectiveness and meet the chemical compatibility of the regeneration systems resulted in a defence system which was inferior to Standard Armor in both durability and regeneration. However, this is generally not a concern for ICC commanders as their Shield technology more than makes up for it.
Organic armor is a biologically generated and compressed viscous liquid material which forms the outer layer of K'Luth warships. It is self-aware, sensing threats to the host ship and rapidly amassing itself to block external damage. Organic in nature, it can slowly regenerate itself when part of it becomes degraded or destroyed.
Compared to Standard armor, Organic armor has low strength due to liquidity and much slower regeneration potential resulting from reluctance to use space debris and foreign germs.
Chitinous armor is the evolution of K'Luth defence technology, featuring a sturdy yet flexible Chitin-based dense superstructure encapsulated within a thin coat of organic armor's constituent liquid. The liquid portion of the organ system is responsible for supplying nutrition to and removing organic wastes from the chitin, as well as detecting and conveying information of potential threats. The chitinous interior responds to the threat by amassing itself and forming a gigantic net of chitin covering the entire ship surface to intercept weapons fire with great efficiency.
Larger hulls possess a much greater surface area, allowing for development, nurturing and sustenance of a far greater amount of chitin. However, chitin regeneration is still in the primitive evolutionary stages, rendering the host ship vulnerable when the surfaced chitin is worn out.
Compared to Standard armor, Chitinous armor has humongous strength but negligible regeneration.
