I doubt the ICC needs another cruiser model, considering ICC already has four different models for their cruisers, compared to only two for Dreadnoughts.

Not to mention the over-arc structure and nacelles looks much closer to ICC Dreadnoughts as opposed to Cruisers (whom have the fishtail).

Forgive me for doubleposting, but...

If you are looking to increase the detail of the ship in order to add in the extra 900 polys. One thing I would look at are the fighterbays, all of the 'new' carrier ships, the Guppy, M277, and Agincourt all have very highly detailed fighterbays with specialized textures and the model detail to match them.

Will look into the suggestions.

Taking a break for a few days. Trying to play the game again, instead of messing with 3DS Max.

Also, I'm trawling the web for textures.... from either movie pics or design sites, or even photos of industrial sites like refineries and factories for the kinda hull textures, pylons and struts that I may wanna use for this ship.

Finally managed to texture the dread with some help from LoA. (Thanks dude!)



Update:

- Added a couple of pod extensions at the forward hull next to the nose cone
- Resized the engine ports
- Textured the ship..... finally.....

Finally, a question for the Devs and expert modellers:

I got clear renders.... but my viewport shows very blurred textures. Is this supposed to be normal? Or are my textures supposed to come out clear as day in the Viewport????



Cos if it's the latter, then I'll need to play around with the Unwrap UVW mapping size. :\

That bridge is a little ugly. I think it can benefit from having a solid backside that isn't a window like the rest. But that's just me. (I am partial to round ones but ICC won't have it!)

Looks nice, though.

i think the ship looke more like a cruiser

just from the look i'd sugest:
- carrier-cruiser (hangars in the pods left/right wings)
- strong forward-weapons (pods left/right) at the nose
- fast (oversized engines)
- big space between carrier-pods could be used as big cargo-bay (additional ammo, fighters, troops, ressources)

so i'd say, its a assault carrier

how that looks like a cruiser is beyond me it definately has a dread look to it and it also has a big "I CAN DO ANYTHING" look

I envisioned this as a Command/Missile or Carrier dread. Tried to scale it like a big capital ship. It's supposed to feel like over a kilometer long.

Also, because of its rather smooth profile, I can't picture it as an assault ship too. It has more of the feel of a flagship type of vessel, preferably travelling with escorts ships. Sort of like a current day CVN (USN nuclear powered supercarrier).


Let's give it a name.
How about "M-500 Constellation" class hull?


But anything goes, I guess. Ultimately it's just a model.

LOL. Yeah. A bit rectangular eh?

But it's not just a single deck up there. I smashed up the texture to make it appear like 6 or 7 decks at the top. Sort of like a supercarrier's island. Bridge, CIC, Flight Deck control all in one.
