Positioning and who fires first usually has a major effect on the outcome of the battle. But this is a fleet game, so more than likely, it'll be a matter of numbers and/or fleet tactics.
I'd dare say that 2 on 2, a couple of EADs can take out 2 ADs in quick fashion if both EADs can focus and take out one of the ADs first. They have the advantage in firepower anyway. Likewise with 2 Siphons/Mandis vs 2 ADs or EADs.
It depends on how the battle begins, and how it's coordinated.
1 on 1? Why even bother?

The last time i seen you actually play this game for more then 5 mins other then trolling the forums was back when you first joined darkspace, you are crazy to think you can win in an EAD vs a AD 1 vs 1. Also its not that we bother with 1 vs 1, its just a statistic i am using, so if there are 5 vs 5 we are still doomed, the fact of the matter beyond your constant trolling of forums is that the ICC AD is stupidly strong.

Just a few nights ago, 3 Mandis took on 2 ADs and an SS. They managed to drive off or destroy the 2 ADs before retreating (due to Harpex pwnage from the SS).
2 ADs and 1 SS. That should have been enough to overwhelm 3 squishy Kluth ships. What went wrong?
Well, for one, they put the AD between them and the SS and the other AD.
Lesson one: Positioning.
They focused fire on that AD and killed it quickly, ignoring the initial counter attack from the SS.
Lesson two: Focus fire and quickly reduce enemy numbers
Then they went for the 2nd AD and drove it off before attacking the SS. But by then they had to retreat due to damage and lack of energy.
If you Uggies just wanna continue to jump in and try to spacebar your way to victory, by all means, please carry on. But that's not the way the game is anymore. You had your time in the sun when things were easy for you.
Now that things are more tweaked and equal, you'll just have to experience what the other 2 factions once felt about depot spamming and planet hugging. If that's not termed "coming full circle", I dunno what is.
So again, I would suggest that you adapt to the situation and try to find a tactic that will work. But for starters, may I suggest outnumbering your enemy. That should be easy enough to understand, even for you.

Comes down to range, If the Assault Dreadnaught Sits within beam range, its in trouble. If the AD can stay out of beam range for at least a bit of the fight, it has the advantage. Also the AD has the best side arcs of all the dreads. I will say however, that the since the layout changes the EAD has always been king with way more DPS than the AD. Sorry we are all on somewhat even turf now.

personally i have no problem with the AD i have 1v1'ed it in my modded uggie CMD dread and won thats a exsaust bench zarls 3 def and 2 adv weap multis silly icc wanted to fight at planet so i built my self a depo and 2 plats then when he was low and hull i finished the interdictor and killed him, its all about the tatics [oh theadwas full def ench btw]

I find this thread wandering further and further away from the original problem statement. Can 1 AD win from 2 EADs? If yes -> this is a clear issue
no -> this thread has no value

Yes a ad can beat two siphons.
Outcome of a fight has many factors. Range, skill, positioning, fittings, enhancements, pace, and more.
I once killed a full helth battledread with a cdread with 40% hull left. He had reflective armor and emp cannons. He was unable to close to under 800gu.
Does this mean cd is better than gd?
I once killed a tc with a guppy. He was unable to shake me from his reaar. Does this make the guppy op?
Me and another where flying command carriers (the new one) and drove back a mandiable, siphon, and a brood in one battle. Does this make the cc op? Roflol if it does.
Point is, ship balance is only one aspect of combat.
The ad is suited to hunt the ead. The ead is more able to turn a kluth assault than a ad.
The kluth assault ships, cruiser and dread, are suited to hunt the ad. But these obsevations are not a garentee of victory for the favored party. Just a tally of tallents based on ship performance. Not pilot.

There will always be ships that are 'better' than other ships.
You could say that the UGTO SS is better at repairing damage at a planet than a ICC SS.
What Kenny is trying to point out is that this game isn't balanced for 1v1s. It's balanced for fleet battles.
